Monsters on Monday - July 9, 2012

Evenings like this are the reason I want to be a better photographer.

My monsters have been sick and this is one of the first days they've both really been feeling well, so we spent the evening together as a family playing in the back yard. I feel so blessed to have such sweet and fun little boys and I want to capture as many memories as I can, even if they are merely snapshots in the back yard.

Monsters on Monday - May 28

Just a little glimpse into everyday life...

The monsters were just hanging out in the shade, using the dog as their pillow.  Of course, this was before the dog decided he liked lollipops too.

Monsters on Monday - May 21st

We took the monsters for a drive this weekend to go see if we could get a glimpse of some wolf pups my hubby had found the day before.  Unfortunately the mother had moved them, but we saw plenty of fun things.  We watched the eclipse through a welding mask and saw a few bears.  Plus the scenery was just amazing!  It was so green!

Like how I didn't even bother washing their faces?

Playing with slow shutter speeds...

This is where we were able to watch the eclipse from.

We're Having a Girl!

So we had our 20 week ultrasound last week and found out we're having a girl!  The poor ultrasound tech had to keep going back to check (like 5 times!) because we were both in such disbelief.  I honestly thought we were having another boy!

We went out and got a few pink outfits thinking that having something girly in our house might make it seem more real.

I have to admit I love all the expressions the boys gave me for these photos - especially my oldest, who has said it's a girl ever since we found out we were having another baby.  He's so excited!

Monsters on Monday 4-30-12

I heard something this evening that I haven't heard in so long...
"Mommy will you take a picture of us?"

Most of the time the boys run from the camera, but they'd both found their sunglasses and thought they looked cool enough for a picture!  They posed for a few, then quickly lost interest when they found dandelions to make wishes on and decided running and being boys was much more fun than that camera.

Gotta love those spontaneous moments. These are my favorites...

I LOVE eylashes!

I'm Back!

Wow!  The last couple months this poor blog has been so neglected it's embarrassing!

I've been behind in the past, but I have a good excuse this time...

Baby number 3!  Due in September!

Now that I'm past the first trimester and starting to feel a bit more like myself I hope to catch up and post a bunch of the photos I've taken over the last few months.  Stay tuned!

Tough Guy Tattoo

My oldest monster got his first tattoo.  It was just some random temporary tattoo we got somewhere, but he thought it was the coolest thing ever!  During bath time he kept showing it off while flexing his muscles and making "tough guy" faces.

"See my tattoo, mom?"

Love that kid!

Monsters on Monday: January 16

Several other photographers do a "Mine on Monday" post where they show pictures of their kids, families or something that's personal to them. I thought it was a great idea, especially after a proud grandpa told me that there haven't been enough photos of the monsters on here lately!  :)

Usually when the monsters are quiet, it means I'll have a huge mess to clean up, but the other night I walked in and saw them laying on the living room floor looking at a Hot Wheels ad together.  The light was terrible, but the moment was one of those that I had to capture.  These photos will remind me years from now the relationship these guys have.  Having two boys two years apart makes for some interesting days, but there are plenty of times like these where you can tell they will be close friends all their lives.

My oldest shows so much kindness and consideration for his little brother.  Lately he's wanted to help the little guy with everything: eating his dinner, putting together train tracks and tonight he even helped him brush his teeth!
"Open REALLY wide!"

My youngest idolizes his older brother.  He watches his every move and tries to mimic him exactly.

New Year, New Challenge

So did anyone notice that my two week photo challenge in December only lasted a week?
(I swear maybe I'll catch up one of these days...)

It's a good thing I decided against a full year of one photo a day, every day, isn't it?  Well, the latest photo challenge is one a week for a year.  Think I can make it?

Week 1 - All in a Row

My littlest monster is almost as OCD as I am, lining up all his cars on the play mat Grandma made for Daddy when he was a kid.

One Adjective...

Day 8 - One Adjective.

{Mine}

There are dozens of adjectives that would describe my 3 year old!
Wild, funny, sweet, smart, mischievious... even grumpy!

"Mine" is my favorite!

Seriously Behind Already...

Sure enough, life has gotten in the way of the photography project.  I knew it would happen, but I hoped it wouldn't happen so soon.  :)  I will catch up eventually I'm sure, but in the mean time here's a few of the littlest monster.  You really have to have at least one photo of your kids like this...

"I'm still cute when I'm messy, right mom?"

Really?  Chef Boyardee isn't shampoo?!?
